
Jared Perez joined the firm in March 2011 and concentrates his practice on general commercial litigation, with a focus on financial services and securities matters. Jared is currently part of the team that represents the court-appointed receiver nominated by the SEC in the Arthur Nadel $400 million Ponzi scheme.
Prior to joining the firm, Jared was associated with a large, international law firm based in Manhattan, where he represented insurance companies, investment banks, hedge funds and prominent individuals in connection with complex commercial litigation, internal investigations and white collar matters. Most recently, Jared represented a bond insurance company in multiple actions against the sponsors of several mortgage-backed securitizations with an insured value of approximately $4 billion and actual damages in excess of $1 billion. He also obtained a substantial recovery for the same client through an arbitration settlement with another insurance company. In addition, Jared has received the designation of Empire State Counsel by the New York State Bar Association every year since the inception of the program for his commitment to pro bono service.
Jared is a Tampa native and graduated from Florida State University, cum laude, in 2002. He received his law degree in 2005 from Columbia Law School. At Columbia, Jared served as the Managing Editor of the Science & Technology Law Review. He also interned with the Rackets Bureau of the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, the Hon. Robert Patterson, Jr., of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, and the Hon. Sonia Sotomayor, then of the Second Circuit Court of Appeals and, presently, a member of the United States Supreme Court.
Jared is admitted to practice in New York and Florida and is active with bar associations in both states.
