Guerra & Partners Celebrates Black History Month

The highlight of Black History Month, however, came with Guerra & Partners’ sponsorship of the Black History Month Reception hosted by the George Edgecomb Bar Association and the Fred G. Minnis, Sr. Bar Association on February 28. The Reception was awe-inspiring as Doretha Edgecomb discussed the life and legacy of her late husband, Judge George Edgecomb, who became the first black judge in Hillsborough County in 1973 at just 31 years old. Judge Edgecomb died tragically just a few years later at the age of 33, but his short life created a legacy that transcends time.

Are Non-Compete Agreements Still Valid In Florida?

On January 5, 2023, the Federal Trade Commission (“FTC”) proposed a rule banning non-competition clauses in employment agreements. Approximately one in every five American workers, or 30 million people, are subject to a non-compete agreement.

Guerra & Partners Honors Holocaust Remembrance Day

On November 1, 2005, the UN General Assembly designated January 27 as International Holocaust Remembrance Day (“IHRD”). January 27 marks the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau. IHRD serves two purposes: (1) to honor the six million Jewish victims of the Holocaust and millions of other victims of Nazism, and (2) to develop educational programs to help prevent future genocides.
